Monsters vs. Aliens Review.

After spending the past couple of weeks renting crappy videos that we couldn't even finish (Rachel Getting Married, My Best Friend's Girl), stupid teenage movies that don't deserve the hype or press that they get (the shite fest known as Twilight) and other assorted and forgettable stuff (so unaffecting I don't even remember any of it by name), we went to see Monsters vs. Aliens, the new Reese Witherspoon voiced animated movie at the local theater, and I must say it was AWESOME!

Now, it's true that we do watch a fair bit of animated stuff, but it's all for good because frankly, after a long day of teaching, I don't want to think that much. I want to be entertained and happy, and for all the messages that kids need to learn and those put in for propaganda for adults (the global warming line), it was really good.

Kiefer Sutherland even showed up as General WR Monger leading the monsters to victory over the aliens as a hapless president (played by Stephen Colbert - though he could have been just as easily played by our current worthless leader) watched on.

Nevertheless, I was most amazed by how much certain scenes actually looked REAL. Computers, you've certainly come a long way with how you can make animation awesome.

The other good movie we saw was the Apatow influenced Role Models, which features McLovin', a foul mouthed young African American kid, and Stiffler acting alongside Paul Rudd, who seems to be in just about everything now (he was also in Monsters vs. Aliens as Reese's worthless husband to be that rejects her for her size). I don't know how much a review of it could do it justice other than to say what it's about, but frankly, it's Apatow teenage movie by numbers, so if you liked his other stuff, you'll be rolling for this one.

LOL about twilight. The movie truly sucked. It was horrible! As you know from the post in my blog I did read the books....mostly a young teen girl crap-fest...but waaaaay better than movie.

Oh and the only reason I saw the movie was because parts of it were filmed only MILES from my house!
